Curator’s Comments:

The Orange Face came up randomly on the site for me today, and I’m intrigued by the title’s reference to representation despite the arguably non-objective subjective matter.  I’m also curious about the drawing’s skewed rectangle, and if this orientation is intended. .Some pieces within your portfolio appear to have shaped supports, while other simply include background and appear titled from the angle of the shot. In either case, I do like the organic quality of the forms within the fiery field of yellow-orange and red gestural marks.  The treatment of this space suggests an energy flux more than solid ground. The blue linear form moving out of the red adds to the ambiguity of the picture.  Its solid boundaries and higher chroma hue make it a focal point, while the sinuous and sudden change in direction provides a snake-like movement. What appear to be thin blue lines sketched around the contour of the “face” further add to the dynamic tension between the spaces.  It is a very interesting drawing, holding the viewers’ attention and imagination.
