About Sean McFarland:
Sean McFarland is an artist whose work explores the relationships between the process of image making, artifice, photographic truth, and the representation of landscape. McFarland earned a BS in Computer Information Systems and Studio Art from Humboldt State University in 2002, and an MFA in Photography from California College of the Arts in 2004.

Sean's solo exhibitions include White Columns, New York City, Jack Hanley Gallery, San Francisco. His work has been included in shows at the San Jose Museum of Art, Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art and Art/Miami/Basel. Among his awards are a fellowship to the National Photography Institute at Columbia University, 2004, fellowship and residency at the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA, 2009 and the Baum Award for Emerging American Photographers, 2009. Selected reviews include The San Francisco Chronicle, Artweek, and Artforum. His work is in the collections of the Oakland Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and Whitney Museum of American Art Library.
