28th Annual Northern National Art Competition

National Deadline: May 9, 2015 – Nicolet College Art Gallery in cooperation with the Northern Arts Council announces a call for artists the 28th Annual Northern National Art Competition. Join artists from throughout the nation in this competition to celebrate creativity through a variety of mediums.

AWARDS
More than $8,500 will be awarded
Three $1,000 Awards of Excellence

ELIGIBILITY
The competition is open to all artists 18 years or older who are US residents. Each artist may submit images of recent, original, 2D hangable artwork in any medium including photography, fiber, and mixed media. There is no theme.

JUROR/JUDGE – Robert Kanyusik
Robert Kanyusik has made several notable contributions to the visual arts both in Wisconsin and nationwide. In 1988, Kanyusik co-founded the Northern National Art Competition, which for the past 27 years has drawn exceptional entries reflecting current trends in the visual arts. He also headed Nicolet College’s art department from 1982 to 2013 and created the Nicolet Art Gallery, where the competition’s works are displayed.

Kanyusik’s own artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally and has also received numerous honors as an art educator. For complete Bio please see full Prospectus.

DATES

• May 9 Postmark deadline for mailing of entries
• July 7 Final due date for all shipped accepted work
• July 7 Optional hand delivery to Nicolet Art Gallery: 12 – 4 pm
• July 18 Opening Reception at Nicolet Art Gallery: 6 pm
• Sept. 11 Show closes; return shipping of work within ten days
• Sept. 12 Pick up hand-delivered work: 10 am – 2 pm
