International Deadline: July 18, 2014 - Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) announces a Call for Entries for California Dreaming: An International Portrait of Southern California. This juried exhibition is a rare opportunity for artists to thematically explore the celebrated lifestyle, influences, and environs of Southern California while also gaining international exposure.
From October 2014 to July 2015 California Dreaming will travel for exhibition to three venues: Il Palazzo della Provincia di Frosinone in Frosinone, Italy (Rome vicinity); Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA); and Riverside Art Museum (RAM).
Artists worldwide are invited to participate in the exhibition by submitting original or limited edition works that creatively interpret Southern California's iconic culture. Submissions are open to all visual artists working two-dimensionally in any medium or genre.
JURY & AWARDS
Exhibition jurors include Daniel Foster of OMA, Drew Oberjuerge of RAM, and Los Angeles-based art critic/curator Peter Frank. By juror invitation several artworks will be included in the exhibition, which will embody and reflect the vision of California Dreaming: An International Portrait of Southern California to further enhance the scholarship and strength of this traveling exhibition.
In addition, OMA will host an 8-day Italy Art Adventure, including an exclusive tour of the Borghese Gallery in Rome, led by Alfio Borghese of the noble Borghese family and a behind-the-scenes view of the California Dreaming exhibition at the Il Palazzo della Provincia di Frosinone. The tour, which runs October 20-28, will visit cultural landmarks in the environs of Florence and Rome with lodging at a picturesque villa in the panoramic hills near Cortona, where Under the Tuscan Sun was filmed. Information is available on the Oceanside Museum of Art website.
Entries will be accepted exclusively online, which includes a detailed prospectus with guidelines for the exhibition and instructions for entry. The deadline for entries is July 18, 2014.
