5th Annual Photobook Traveling Exhibition

International Deadline: October 18, 2014 - Davis Orton Gallery announces it's 5th Annual Photobook Traveling Exhibition, an annual competition open to photographers in the United States and abroad who have self-published a photobook.

Twenty winning books will be exhibited and for sale at the Davis Orton Gallery, Nov. 16-Dec 21, 2014 and will then travel to Griffin Museum of Photography, Winchester MA.  Additional photo books will be selected for exhibition in an online gallery.

This competition will be juried by Paula Tognarelli Executive Director and Curator of the Griffin Museum of Photography and Karen Davis, Curator/Co-owner, Davis Orton Gallery.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to artists worldwide. Entrants may submit up to three different titles that are self-published photography books of any size, format, or style: hard cover, soft cover, casewraps, landscape, portrait, square, color, black and white. Submissions will be judged on the basis of: cover design, strength of the photography, subject matter of the book, page layouts, editing and sequencing and emotional impact of the overall book.

There are growing options available for self-publishing a book such as on-demand (blurb, lulu, viovio, iphoto, etc.); small run offset or web printing/publishing firms, binderies. If they have been hand-made/ bound, they must be available in multiples of at least 25.

JUDGING
Submissions will be judged on the basis of: cover design, strength of the photography, subject matter of the book, page layouts, editing and sequencing and emotional impact of the overall book. All judging is at the complete discretion of the gallery and all decisions of the gallery are final.

  The Davis Orton Gallery, established in August, 2009, is located on historic Warren Street in Hudson, NY, a gallery on an architecturally rich street famous for its antique shops, galleries and restaurants.
  
  The Davis Orton Gallery exhibits photography, mixed media and trade and artist-published photobooks. The goal of the gallery is to present a wide range of contemporary artists - from emerging to mid-career to established.
