I would like some input on the best way to promot my art.  My husband is also an artist he does metal work from copper and brass.  We make handmade baskets, jewelry, grapevine wreaths, and pottery.   I make all kinds of things from grapvine and cudzoo.  Do you know what cudzoo is?  It is the vine that you see climbing trees and what ever it can find.  Very good material for making baskets.  Does anyone have any ideas for me about selling my goods?  Please send a reply...  Thank you for all your help.

Hi Donna,

Do you have a website yet? I use my website as an introduction, to get new and repeating clients interested, but I expect for sales of a couple thousand dollars, a new client would need to see the piece or have the option to return it if not satisfied. I have received orders for paintings up to $1000, where the entire transaction was handled by phone and internet.

It sounds as if your artwork might be salable online. I don't know how you price your work. Maybe you could look at Etsy and Horchow, and get a feel for the market.

all the best,

Laurel

might be a good idea to approach a craft shop in your area, offer them a percentage of your price for them selling your goods,  also if you try on ebay, open a shop on there, think amazon is quite good too and other online sites.like etsy ect,  you can do your own website too for free,  or if you want your own domain name you can buy that for betwwen 10 and 20 pound a year,  its freewebs,  I have one , its good to send clients to ect and to get commisions.

hello Donna...I guess it all depends whether your kind of crafts sell on the net or not. I also make ceramic crafts and tried to sell them on the net. It did not work, but this is in Italy where postage local and overseas is very expensive...I even gave out business cards to potential clients, people I meet at local craft markets but out of all the cards I have put out over the past 16 years only one client ever got back to me. So I just wing it on craft markets. Face to face interaction is what I find works best.
