A lot I have to ask about this work in progress

first digital drawing I've done in a while.  Before advice is given, I would like to make it clear that no affects, filters, or special tools were used.  All that was used to make what this is so far were the brush tools and separate layers for each piece, and I intend not to use any other mechanisms or tools to modify this.

That being said, I would like to know if the pattern underneath the creature is recognizable as a wasp's nest pattern, if the flying creatures stand out enough, if the worms do as well, if the sparks from the burning grasses are recognizable as what I just described them as, and over all if the lighting and prospective make everything sharp and 3D.  

No question, this is a work in progress nearing completion and constructive criticism would be appreciated, as long as it's helpful and/ or advising.
