Why I do what i do...
Some may say my work is too odd. Too surreal. Some may say on the polar opposite end, that I am too repetitive, or unoriginal. The truth is, those comments don't matter to me. Escapism is very important to me when it comes to fine art and writing, and if i'm repetitive with a creature or form, it's because it fits a story or concept. I rarely have pieces that stand alone, for as I continue drawing my subjects, they begin to relate. Then I can add deeper meaning and emotion to my artwork, which separates pieces featuring the same subject as long as the mood of the scene is different. The truth is, I don't draw what I do to be unique. If something I think would be interesting hasn't been created, I will make it for the sake of my own benefit, not what people think of it. If they think it's unique, deep, and creative, then that's a bonus but i draw for myself.

The best way to put the difference is philosophy. Quality of stylized elements and principals are not greater or lesser in either form, but are weighted differently.
The idea I see in fine arts is that every aspect of the piece can be weighted equally when critiqued. This means stylized strokes in one are as valuable of the process an other took to make. To be edgy, I see those artists oriented to the fine arts place the concept of elements and principals over how they fit…

My name is Andrew Schlageter, and I am a young artist.
I feel that these kinds of work are important to the growth and development of the creative world. When we make an abstract piece of any kind which says something, a community with a careful eye, good reasoning skills, and an open mind will appreciate it.

Andrew, I hope you don't change your piece because of my interpretation- you have a strong, highly personalized style that offers complex, but intense emotion. The world you've created is wrought with tension, in words and images. And while I personally saw Levian Wraiths as anger or danger ridden, it didn’t take away from my viewing experience. I’ve always perceived the only negative reaction to my work as being indifference.

Hi! I'm a therapist too, and I love people. I love the differents emotions and I work on it!

Great work Andrew- I invented psychedelic realism to establish a new style using patterns that become realistic scenes. Surrealism was my stepping stone to get me where I am. Thanks for the response- All my best- Michael
