i think it is a very  compelling piece it brings to mind a lot of moments of thought. i could see series of pieces based on that still moment in the mind when thought and memories become real.

sunset and hills and Human body and memory.

Curator’s Comment:

These are without exception highly engaging pieces, but I’m most attracted to the carvings that heighten the relationship between positive space and inner core interstices. The contrasted grain pattern of the stone adds to the organic movement in several works, while the highly polished luster of other surfaces put forth an ethereal glow. I like this evidently untitled piece for its abstracted figurative associations, and the way the form appears to fold in on itself. While scale isn’t indicated, there is a quietly understated intimacy in the gesture, as the head tilts slightly downward towards enclosing arms. Thicker legs could recall a Venus fetish or at least a general, universal relationship to voluptuous abundance and fertility.  I also particularly like the full freestanding male figure- quite unlike the other biomorphic works in the portfolio (your second page, top row).  It bears a rugged determination.  I wonder about a possible Biblical or spiritual allusion through the firmly planted feet and slight upward gaze of the head.
