Was my midterm in 11th grade. The assignment was to draw a scene we photographed (originally was my school), add a full body self portrait (if you're wondering about the hat, I went through a faze you could say), and hide a personal object (I picked a model of an ichtheosaur, which was a prehistoric fish-resembling reptile). But I wanted to break the mold and add elements from my story after I deemed myself finished. The color scheme was fortunate to add in golden grasses, so I asked over and over again if I could cover the scene in grass, and it was acceptable as long as I used the contours of the road as the ripples in the grasses. Last, I asked if I could manipulate my object into a flying whale (secretly adding a levian wraith) and that was also acceptable. Then I ended up with a piece that seemed to make sense in the world I created. I decided not to lengthen my hair because I found it conceptually interesting to keep the realistic me and not make him the allegoric me.
This piece is over 1.5 years old and I'm still considering making it the cover of The Agris Terra.
