Curator’s Comment:
This subtle piece made by type transfers is particularly poignant within the 2012 portfolio entitled falling. I can feel the emotional weight of the tumbling words on the open page, and the emptiness is punctuating by the hovering hole punch towards the top. The intentional misalignment off-set type forces the viewer/reader to slow down and fully engage with the poetic phrase. Looking at all of the pieces together in the folio makes me contemplate the visual rhythm of the words, and the interstices between the separate papers. The single deckled edge along the left side with a contrasting straight cut right edge suggests a book page once (or soon to be) bound. This hovering idea of togetherness and unbinding conceptually reinforces the work.
