This purple infused landscape (designated 111024-LScape Lavender Sunset) came up randomly on the site today, and I am enthralled by the color in the lush rolling hills. In particular, I appreciate the reference to sunset in the title, with restraint in the actual hues and chroma in the soft blue sky. The title conjures a warm light enveloping the land before the sun descends for the night. The proportion of earth to sky sets the viewer up with a dramatic expanse, and slight aerial view. While there is some employment of atmospheric perspective with the saturated lavender hues and complementary yellow in the foreground, the distant peaks almost seem to rise up and surround the observer. I appreciate your accompanying note for the piece, which confirms an imagined (or composite) landscape, and desire to lead us through the magnificent terrain. I see that this painting was posted many years ago, and I do hope you consider sharing some of your new work on the site.
