Curator’s Comments:
Days of Fire and Ice caught my attention in a random search on the site. While I’ve appreciated and commented on some of your subtle landscape drawings in prior years, I now find myself enamored by this fresh image with higher contrast and color. The landscape maintains a photographic sharpness, and in fact the reversal of anticipated values suggests a negative image, as one created with solarizing or infrared film. The deep red background does in fact intimate flames, as referenced in the title. It’s an intense color choice when considering the delicate configurations of the trees and brush. But I particularly like the manner in which the top and bottom of the landscape open up the compositional frame, and break the solid line of the border demarcation. In an unexpected visual relationship when viewing your other pieces, which tend to frame the image more distinctly in a rectangle or circular tondo. The body of work you have posted is cohesive and investigative within your given subject. But I do hope you’ll consider adding more recent work to the site.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
