Curator’s Comments:
I appreciate the figurative attributes of these interior items and pieces of furniture. The space is engaging in its unusual blending of the commonplace to evoke mood and human presence. The large water containers first captured my attention, as they’re fairly central to the painting and direct the eye upward into a slight aerial vantage point. Cool and semi-transparent, they effortlessly harmonize with the floor and other blue-violet shadows. I also find it interesting that the space is somewhat confining on first inspection, with small passageways of open space left between the piano, window and table. But the overall lightness of the work and outside window view alternately open up the room. I also admire the subtle contradiction in the rather formal piano, and casualness in the manner in which small items lay on the table. (And of course the large conspicuous water bottles.) But I was most surprised to view your other works on the site, which appear to differ a great deal in terms of subject and content. I remember thinking about and commenting on the genre of specific female portraits. The figures reveal a bold confident and stylized gesture, while I view Piano as a poignant and more quietly contemplative piece.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
