Curator’s Comments:
This tondo shaped non-objective piece came up in a random selection today, and despite it being posted many years ago, I don’t remember seeing the piece on the site. I was disappointed to see it was the only circular piece you shared, as the form creates a primacy and hierarchy in the overall viewing experience. The bold shape also helps contain all of the active candy-colored pieces. The dense surface is inviting. I appreciate the layering of thicker daubs of paint on the smoother paint surfaces. The work’s title, which contains numbers and Creek Stony doesn’t bring a particular narrative content to the piece, and so I interpret it as purely formal exploration of color and shape. As these paintings were posted many years ago, I would be curious to see how your painting practice has continued. Please consider posting new works to the site if you are still active.
