Curator’s Comments:
The lyrical pastel colors and playful movement of shapes in this non-objective painting visually support the title’s reference to Gender Issues. Assuming the green hue moving throughout the composition is a neutral player within the engendered blues and pinks, there is a harmony and pleasing contrast to the interplay. I particularly like the implied shapes created through the clustering of broken circular forms. The gestalt in the groupings allows me to see the contours that don’t exist. While the physical scale of the piece and media aren’t noted, the semi-transparency of the marks underscores more opaque areas of tinted pigment. If I had to hazard a guess I would assume the painting was created with built up layers of oil paint and cold wax. If you are active on the site, I would enjoy hearing about your studio practice, and hope you will consider sharing new work.
