Curator’s Comments:
The extreme cropping of the human torso and smooth sensuality of skin reminds me of Edward Weston’s photographic abstractions. The value contrast of the background in this piece lends a solidity to the form, while the hint of a tattoo on the figure’s shoulder injects a more contemporary edge to the figural Classicism. The next photograph in the series, designated numerically 552_5243 strikes an elegant composition with the strong diagonal pose of the model. I enjoy the open valued tonal relationships, as the figure moves in and out of the shadow. The contour of her body is interestingly interrupted by the shadow as well as the graphic black line across her shoulder and chest. While her face is featured in full light, alleviating the anonymity of some of the other models, the gesture nicely supports the self-possessed expression.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
