Curator's Comments:
This exuberant painting remains popular on the site despite it being created almost a decade ago. I’m drawn into the circular brushstrokes that move me into the center of the square composition. There are faint remnants of a human face, with a tomato red line bisecting two round blue eyes. But look again, and the forms quickly dissolve into non-objectivity. I enjoy the formal tension between the matt blue-green and yellow surfaces, and glossy thick strokes of violet and red-orange. While the viewer could conclude a process-oriented randomness directs the muscular brushwork, there also seems to be a harmonized duality present. Color groupings appear in paired gestures in the abstraction. The yellow shape balances another of a similar hue; blue matches blue, and so on. This visual echo implies an underlying order in the chao. Ultimately, I succumb to the movement in the painting as a pleasurable cacophony of painterly expression.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
