Welcome to the site! Your American Dreamers series certainly resonates during these challenging times in America. The ambiguity of the expressively rendered forms, and duplicity of the appropriated photographic media contribute to these contemplative and arresting images. I’m particularly attracted to the American Dreamers-Migrant piece for the dark and graphic, almost silhouetted figure, and the complexities that lie within. The multifaceted story of American migration is alluded to in the “bubbles” in the upper left corner of the picture, while the blurred face pulls away. I sense an evocation of past and future in the ghostly layering of shapes. In Signal Noise; F Troop is arguably more assertive by conjuring stereotyped icons of an earlier television era. As your accompanying statement articulately outlines, contemporary sensibilities and cultural awareness may cause viewers to cringe at the crudely executed characters derived from indigenous people. You revisit these constructions through the gaze of Anglo-Americana, as emphasized by the highlighted heads in the upper left. I appreciate the fact that the overlaid flag resists the easily identifiable color scheme, and therefore initially appears as random interruption of bars before we recognize the iconic design. Thank you for sharing these insight works, and your commentary on the site. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
