Polished Cast Concrete with Glass

Curator’s Comment:
The organic mossy feel of the exterior of this piece is a wonderful, compelling contrast to the cool green glass shards inside. I’m wondering if some of the patina on the surface comes about in the chemical processing or polishing, or if there is applied pigment. The whole sculpture seems to be about the natural interplay between opposing forces; interior/exterior, preciousness or secrecy of space versus a revelatory fissure, etc. I also like the appearance of substantial weight- whether real or exaggerated. (I’m unsure of scale?) The form is architectural in its cube-like shape, which is further emphasized by the small window openings on the side. The piece with the three stacked cube forms (072) shares these attributes, but the structure adds another level of precariousness, or tension between forces in delicate balance.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
