Curator’s Comments:

While your Distress & Constraint series was posted several years ago, I’m just coming across your wok on the site today.  These tightly organized works with strict geometric perimeters have an interesting tension as the individual photographs spatially push against their confining grid.  I’m most attracted to the construction entitled Insecurity.  The central portrait, having more light and contrast, becomes a hierarchical focal point.  The female subject appears to be the central player in the drama of her peers, whose collective downward gazes invite voyeuristic engagement.  I also appreciate the quieter squares, offering smaller vignettes of information- the hands and middle center cropping of the face provide visual rest.  Since this series was posted several years ago I’d love to see if the body of work continued or evolved in another direction entirely.
