Curator’s Comment:
Love Nest has a floating, otherworldly presence. The interplay of delicate forms woven into hardened bronze and glass provides a startling visual and tactile contrast. It suggests a delightful danger when contemplated alongside the title. The scale also challenges the viewers perceptions of safety within intimidate enclosures- or relationships. It’s difficult to discern what appears to be a reclining white form in the center. Its shape looks figurative in nature, but from the image onscreen I can’t make out if it’s connected to the webbing below. I almost prefer to consider the piece empty. The slight elevation is strangely inviting, like a dream-bed or hammock. The colors are naturalistic, but the contrast in value provides a deeper richness and suspension of reality. It’s as if diaphanous gossamer threads are woven between ebonized branches. The smaller piece by the same title carries over some of these visual aspects, but the smaller scale and perching of the nest on top of the branch makes the piece more precious than seductively ethereal, or ominous.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
