4 Men stands out as a bold figurative work against your other urban landscapes. But I also find it interesting to see the same slightly lowered eye level/perspective in this piece- giving the figures a more monumental quality, despite their ghost like presence. Not exactly semi-transparent, the slight erosion of the edges of the forms suggests figures moving towards, or away from a bright light. Thus, the shadows take on a somewhat supernatural aura. As an intaglio print I imagine the light areas were burnished out rather than left unetched, as the open areas emit a faint but smoky haze. The smaller image Lower Manhattan 2 exhibits a similarly appealing grittiness, where the shadows shift slightly in perspective and solidity of form.
