Welcome to the site! I’m enamored with the Tabletop Bombblast Bikini Cupcake. While the fanciful title really should just say it all, I enjoy the visual ambiguity between the playfulness of the artificial confection constructed from gauze and taffeta, and the visual reference to compact weaponry. The brightly layered fabrics are buoyant and call to mind a pastel tutu splayed out from the centralized body of the cupcake. I’m not sure I completely understand the intent of the pedestal base. The configuration and title reference a table top display, but it also is reminiscent of a rocket launch pad. The dimensions aren’t given with the image, and again the table top description suggests a modest scale. But the sculpture commands a startling presence- luring the viewing in with light humor, but delivering a solid punch. The piece ultimately evokes dangers of gender in the bikini/bomb title and form. Perhaps it is also in the context of your other works that this juxtaposition is more obviously felt.
