Curator’s Comments:
I revisited the sculpture entitled 5-Reason today, and appreciated what appears to be manipulated use of found objects. The four thin furniture legs containing what could be a catalog of books at first seems fairly straightforward in its elevation of the ubiquitous- in fact the piece is vaguely utilitarian in its ‘function’ as container. But longer viewing puts forward a vague irony in the accessibility of the objects, which may in fact not be books after all. The eye wants to catalog the recognizable, and maybe that’s part of the piece. Perhaps because the sculpture is also more tethered to the commonplace, as opposed to the other installations you have on the site that I want to make linear connections between the title and content. In either case, I would love to see what else you’ve been making, as these works were posted several years ago and still resonate as a visual dialogue between past and present.
