Thank you for the kind words about my work. Much appreciated.
Achievement appeared randomly on the site, and I was taken in by it’s dramatic diagonal movement and saturated color palette. The dominance of the reddish-rust tones seems to counter the clean architectural subject, as well as the mechanical nature of its majestic form. The light sources indicated within the space also contribute to the theatrical and slightly dissonant mood. Artificial lights are of course indicated in the small yellow circular dots along the bridge. They underscore the time of day as the underside of the structure deepens in color. But the small patches of pale blue-violet in the sky, rather than provide restful relief from the red color, serve to visually contrast the value pattern and heighten the visual contradiction. Looking back through your other paintings on the site, I’m reminded of works I’ve enjoyed earlier that also animate architectural forms. It seems as though Achievement is in good company.
