Curator’s Comments:
Adam and Eve Selfie is mystifying in both its unforeseen humor and visceral connections. The colors and textures form a raw and satisfying blend of contrasting mixed media paint and collage surfaces. The large but ambiguous central hub takes on vague cruciform connotations while the smiling skulls below compete for visual weight and conceptual emphasis. On their own the skull couple would likely conjure sardonic feelings of pleasure and death; coupled with the dark brown drips, the piece takes on a more foreboding sense of organic decay. While I am confident I’m missing some of the nuances of this heavily embellished work on paper by viewing it on my monitor, its bold presence and ironic title begs a closer and longer look.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
