Curator’s Comment:
Adrift shimmers with a jewel like intensity- a beautiful, sinuous play of the vastness of water’s surface. The gestural scraping and puddling of the paint would read as non-objective abstraction without the inclusion of the small red figures and boat. The more aggressive demarcations towards the top warmer section reads as land, while the soothing blue hues create an aqueous plateau. The tiny vessel anchors all of the brushwork and space, and secures a clear figure-ground relationship. The proportion of figures and space also sets up a mood of helplessness- we are literally adrift in the picture plane, and in the liquidity of the bottomless and multifaceted sea.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
