Curator’s Comments:

Aeon (Re-Turn) is a stunning painting.  I was happy to revisit your encaustic landscapes when this one appeared in a random search on the site today. I marvel at the way you’ve mastered the “accident” of the molten wax medium, simultaneously revealing agitated gesture and restraint.  The vibrant red-orange hues play superbly against the creamy, opaque white areas in the piece. Rolling clouds are suggested through the organic abstraction. While you haven’t noted the physical scale of the actual work, the hazy and low horizon suggests a large expanse.  I should add that the square format provides an interesting and unexpected tension- pushing the image further into abstraction when the horizontal landscape format is subverted.
