Curator’s Comments:

The lush orange, red and hot pink tones resonate with the explosive excitement of the fair.  The confetti like bits of saturated color nicely plays off of the alternating dark red and pale blue skies.  The representation of the actual light emitting source dissolves in the overlapping frames, and yet what appears to be the very top edge of a viewers head grounds us, and leads us into the picture.  I also like that this inclusion formally balances the darker space at the top and right of the piece. The tiny figures along the bottom of the composition push upwards with their upraised arms, and contain the party like atmosphere. As I may have commented on one of your works last summer, this work nicely intermixes the profane with an almost sacred or supernatural element. While this image is formally disparate from the silhouetted figurative photographs, it similarly distills a pleasurable or heightened sensation into its living essence.
