Curator’s Comments:

Sunrise on the beach came up randomly on the site today, despite it being posted several years ago. While it looks as though most of your paintings bring together a high chroma color palette, this piece organizes the saturation particularly nicely, with the bouquet of flowers and the anchoring white table. I also enjoy the broken pink and blue-violet palette knife-work in the tablecloth, which connects the foreground of the picture to the bands of blue and red-violet in the striated background landscape.  This piece along with the related painting Blue Bay and White Flowers are unique in that they present a segment of what is expected to be an interior scene- or at least a domesticated bouquet of nature- compartmentalized within a broader expanse of land. I find the interior-exterior relationship interesting, in that there is an effortless connection between them.

What a beautiful painting! I love the orange and blue, the contrast is striking.
