Curator’s Comments:
Autompne Series 1 arrived randomly on the site this morning, and I was happy to bask in the lush enveloping color. The non-objective piece enjoys a loose figure-ground relationship between tactile mixed media elements. I also appreciate the stabilizing factor of the larger organic shapes aligning the bottom edge of the picture, and smaller floating fragments leading the viewer into the top of the piece. The transition of tinted violet to orange hues assists this visual upward movement. The second canvas in this series sets up a similar compositional dynamic, with more muted, fleshier hues. These paintings are closely related, (more than with the third Autompne painting) and the subtle shifts in palette and shape make the viewer appreciate the nuanced choices. I recognize these works were created several seasons ago, and hope you consider posting more work as you soon enter another autumn season.
