The snake and the Cross.
Again I am attracted to the pastel colours especially the pinks and the hints of lime green. I enjoy the layers of narratives that you want to explore further. I am not usually a fan of abstraction but your colours and compositions draws me in.
(Responding to HWRios) Thank you so much for your wonderful comment about my painting! I often struggle with overt content versus abstraction...how much is not enough, or too much?
I love working on a large scale, for while it's counter-intuitive, I think there's a certain intimacy in the viewing. But the logistics of exhibiting can be labor intensive or cost prohibitive.
I would love to see this in person! The figure on the left is probably larger than most people and the painting's large size would make the viewer feel more drawn into the scene than viewing it on a computer. I can imagine feeling more of a participant in the painting if viewing it in actual size. The layers and the depth make it seem like I could step right into the painting--even with such a high level of abstraction-- because it evokes such a subliminal emotive quality. I feel like I've been there--in a dream or as a child too young to remember the actual event. Even though some of the symbols are obscure, it seems like I can understand them on an intuitive level, without even being fully aware of their meaning.
