Curator’s Comment:

This digital painting entitled Balance attracted my attention as I’ve taken ongoing inspiration from works depicting solar eclipse.  While I can’t say for certain the subject here is an astral map, the stacked orbs radiating light within a solid black field definitely conjure astronomical relationships. I enjoy the shifting of scale in the spherical/planetary bodies, and the tension created as the larger forms appear to tug against the line on either vertical end of the composition. The cool and limited color palette give the piece a vaguely logical, or at least reasoned intentionality.   Looking back through your other pieces on the site, I remember admiring some of your more organic and floral works, such as Birth of Spring. While that work on the surface shares few formal relationships with Balance, I see the ongoing threads linking geometric design with a mood of celestial harmony.
