Curator’s Comment:
Your free, gestural handling of jeweled toned pigments seems well suited to silk painting. I can appreciate the scarf in the context of your other works; seeing a culmination of the evolution of floral studies and expressive painterly movement. There’s an interesting positive/negative reversal going on in the piece that seems to relate to batik, or a water based resist process. I’m also particularly drawn to the saturated work aptly titled Roots of Creative Passion. More abstracted than the majority of your other pieces on the site, it nonetheless connects to organic growth and expansion. The magenta hued veins travel along a centralized vertical axis, cleaving the composition roughly into halves. For me, this formal compartmentalization of space intuitively alludes to the bilateral symmetry often found in living organisms. The striations of concentrated color go on to form a loosely tangled knot or web of visceral design; leaving the viewer to ponder the reckless accident or careful stratagem of nature.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
