Curator’s Comments:  

Blue woods- Peace in the moment is arguably an outlier among your paintings on the site, as the most economic and still piece in terms of compositional movement. I appreciate the breaks in hue along the slim blue tree trunks, and the attentive modulations of the covered tracks in the snow below. The irregularities of the horizon line adds some visual interest to the piece, while the choice in square format reinforces the stability of the vertically oriented design. As in many of your works, scale and media aren’t noted, but the image has a painterly, expressive sensibility within the simple color fields.  The build-up of the golden color in the center of the image successfully guides the viewer into the space, and promises light ahead.
