Curator’s Comment:
These are highly enjoyable works- somehow I picture them working best on a moderate or small scale. While they all display a certain confidence in the solidity of objects, Building it Up seems to most directly reference still life. I am drawn to the bottle shape, which anchors and grounds the other softly modeled geometric forms. I particularly like how the boundaries of many of the shapes have a complementary edge- thin blue and green peeks through the edges of the yellow globes. I also feel the clustering of the three yellow spheres in the upper right gives the illusion of visual suspension- the visual weight pulls the eye towards the top of the composition, which then travels back to the like-shaped and hued sphere at the bottom. This formal orchestration is also balanced by the overall lighter palette. These works seem to be about constructing a painting, for an audience of other painters.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
