Curator’s Comments:

In the Corner of My Room is an intriguing mixed digital/analog piece, and I’m attracted to the varying surfaces and illusion of illumination from within. The broad areas of organic texture provide an overall softness to the piece, while higher contrast and chroma color bursts through in what appear to be randomized areas.  I’m engrossed by the lightbulb form at the top, and red/green neon squiggles below. The squiggled lines visually interrupt in a pleasing manner, and draw attention to the thin shadow in the center of the compassion, which has a cleaving effect that may or may not be the seam of opposing walls. The juxtaposition of these “light” sources play with the viewers’ expectations of photo and light sensitivity. Looking back through your other pieces on the site, I remember admired them when they were first posted in 2021. I was reminded that that your studio practice weaves together a myriad of formal and conceptual ideas, and I hope to see more on the site.
