Curator’s Comments:
The intense Story II comes up under some of the “most popular” images on the site despite being posted back in 2009. Holding the viewers interest over these years, the saturated pink and crimson hues beautifully compete with the linear gestures of lemon-lime. The brushstrokes are bold and inward looping, moving in a circular manner back into themselves. While the apparent mixed media was never indicated, there appears to be an interesting tension between dry neutral-hued lines and swaths of vibrant color wash. The painting suggests abstract pictorial shapes, such as a sun and flower in a landscape, but never veers into delicate representation. The title, Story II, suggests the inclusion of a personal narrative, but I imagine I’m like many viewers who perceive the story to be one of color and the sheer joy of painterly mark-making.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
