Curator’s Comments:
There’s something mesmerizing about the aqua blue color field in this piece, which randomly came up on the site today. In what I perceive to be an abstract painting, darker amorphous shapes appear to be swimming under a semi-transparent surface. The small green character in the bottom left corner grounds the space, but also directs the viewers’ eye back to the trailing elements. The identifying title Caught you doesn’t contextualize the imagery anymore than support the initial understanding of moving, animated beings. Looking back through your other paintings on the site, I remember admiring the expressive and bold mark-making. While some of these other pieces enjoy smaller fields of open color, they are all arguably more active, with more contrast of value than this outlying piece. It’s interesting and quite pleasing to contemplate.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
