Abstract with Pattern is a sumptuous little painting, combining the elegant gestural line work in your other pieces with bolder high chroma color. The solid color blocking of the larger yellow-orange section nicely balances the articulated textural areas of complementary blue-violet. The stacking and diagonal tilt of the abstract yellow and blue forms creates a light instability in the piece which sets off the value and color contrast.  If find it interesting that the pieces almost interlock, rather than form more organic or amorphous fields.  The painting immediately after this one (Number 3) bears an even more lush painterly surface, with some impasto technique evident.  But the less saturated color palette softens the edges of the shapes, and offers considerably less visual tension.  The resemblance of shape and color relationships suggests a more complex and intuitive visual dialogue building in this series, just beyond the grasp of the viewer.
