Curator’s Comments:
White Quartz Crystal is my favorite piece in your portfolio, which I admire for its dramatic value pattern and interesting asymmetric balance of space. While scale isn’t indicated on the actual piece, the crystals have a monumental feel to them in regard to the empty horizon, and glimmering reflections. The star shaped highlights are at once descriptive, and a character or symbol of true light, in the graphic Pop Art sensibility. The image at first appears to me to be achromatic in color, but there are nuanced blue and greenish cool areas within the shadows. The slightly textural ground is also an interesting pairing against the alternating hard edges of the subject matter; at once abstract and illustrative. Your animal portraits are all very competent as nature drawings, but the quartz drawing shows me something I haven’t seen before.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
