This monotype etching is a continuation of the "Knotted Up" work I have been doing. Each one of these plates uses a different combination of colors to create atmosphere and mood. In our present circumstances there is a lot of confusion, and passion neatly contained within ourselves.

Curator’ Comment:

The subdued chaos of this new series Contained Confusion, deeply resonates with me, along with your accompanying statement about a collective “knotted up” repression of emotion and mood.  The various shifts of color between the unique solar prints transition from grassy green to somber shadow.  The first piece (V) strikes an interesting tension between a fresh green field of tangled lines, with what could be construed as darker undergrowth.  The piece designed II offers a lighter, airier containment that for me leaves direct associations with landscape for a more dream-like, or ethereal presence. With all of the monoprints you’ve posted, the open fields within the picture plane initially extend contemplative space, but they are filled with agitated line. This series beautifully and non-objectively reflects the uncertainty of our times. While the viewer isn’t given a footing in the floating space, there is a sense that these veils may lift.  Thank you for sharing this work.
