Curator’s Comments:
I perceive an uncomplicated elegance to these various bird sculptures, offering graceful motion with economic simplicity. I would like to see some descriptive information accompanying them- I imagine these pieces to be on the scale of the actual animals by default. I’m also not certain if the entire piece is a cast bronze with a wonderful green patina, or if another material entirely is used. Coot is my favorite in the grouping, because of its incredibly smooth body contrasted with the articulation of the segmented feet. The anchoring metal support actually heightens the sensation of the bird’s striding gate, as the pooled base reads as a shadow roughly in proportion to the body. Two Lapwings is also a pleasing piece, noted for the delicacy of the birds’ dual crests. Their slightly shifted positions highlight the symmetry and duplicity of their forms, while providing contextual variation.
From NY to the U.K., the most comprehensive and respected source for income & exhibition opportunities.
