This is one of two paintings I did last year of a friend's garden. This particular one is enhanced with digital images taken from actual photographs of their gardens. If you look closely you will be able to see how I did this.

Posted several years back, Then Enchanted Garden I came up randomly on the site for me today. I was attracted to the lush pink and green color palette, and later the description of your process. The large turquoise pool at the bottom of the painting allows for visual respite among the dense and articulated foliage. The higher resolution of the yellow flowers in the foreground, perhaps because of their digital enhancement, create a wonderful foil to the more expressive marks. Their detail also provides atmospheric perspective in the scene. I’m drawn into the center of the work by the sinuous and dark green branches, contrasting against the lighter tinted hues. The landscape also invokes a vaguely Asian sensibility. I wonder if it is because of the twisted sway of the thin tree trunk asymmetrically balanced against pink cherry blossoms. It is quite an unusual and provocative piece. It appears slightly elongated along the horizontal axis- heightenin the sense of a picturesque panorama.
Ann, I really like how you blended photography and impressionism here. I appreciate the colors and the feel. If I had a garden, I'd like it to be like this.
