Curator’s Comments:

Corporateman commands the pictorial space as a multi-headed corporate monster. More refined and detailed than many of your drawings I’ve enjoyed on the site, the tension between the repeated heads is as first threatening, and then rendered benign.  I sense the blue ties anchoring the heads against the pale pink shirt contribute to this softening of menace; their collective blindness also removes the viewer from their collective gaze. Does their lack of eyes imply further detachment from humanity, or self-contained motivation? The painting could also be viewed as humorous in its satirical caricature of a business type. But whether entertaining or treacherous, I enjoy the way color is integrated into the somewhat ashen skin tone of the corporate men. Vestiges of pink and green and yellow suggest reflection from a source beyond the blackened ground.
