Crevice captures the imagination and holds my interest with its convoluted organic form.  While paint media isn’t indicated, the warm and cool color and value shifts look like subtle watercolor manipulations. The darker values, as the title suggests, reflect small interstices or fissures in a larger rock mass.  But the asymmetrical balance of the space nicely suspends this mass of visual weight, and gives the piece an airier mood.  The white background is also particularly effective in isolating and abstracted the subject, as it doesn’t appear grounded in landscape or physical reality. I enjoy this formal tension exhibited in several of your other paintings; vacillating between natural representation and non-objectivity.
