Thank you for the review. I like to take things apart almost as much as I like creating new imaginary pieces. To me the real beauty of any machine or electronic device is on the inside. The gears, wires, circuits, and the things that hold then together. All of my 3-d objects are intended to look and feel like their function has been forgotten and time has made them obsolete and weathered. I encourage viewers to touch all of my work. Some day I would like to do a show for the blind.

Curator’s Comment:

While I like your many of your gestural paintings on flat surfaces, your three dimensional pieces wholly harness the expressive saturation of color, and eloquently merge the found elements into quite exceptional works.  Life Support Agency in particular is a gestalt of earthy patinas, decorative circuits, and mechanical gears.  The top cord and small feet the piece sits on imbue the work with a strangely utilitarian reference despite the eroded color and ornamental embellishments.  The reposition of circular elements also unifies the piece, bringing my eye up to the top section, and back around to the spool like shapes on the front.  The repeated spool shapes also intimate continuous or interrelated movements, as in an old projector or transmitter.  While scale isn’t specifically mentioned, the sculpture enjoys a personal, individualistic quality, as though it should be operated- or viewed- by one person.
