Curator’s Comments:

Coming across Cul de Sac of Life once again, I maintain these are some of the most elegant and poignant works I have seen on the site.  The physical erosion of material objects moves past ones enjoyment of the tactile experience of age and patina, and into contemplation of our shared life span.  Cul de Sac is especially apropos to this idea of visual/pictorial reincarnation and collective memory.  The ghostly quality of the circular forms and smooth bending of architecture is disorienting but also softly soothing.  The grey enclosure is tomb like.  It’s as if the bend in the walls embrace rather than confine the viewer as they approach the wide entrance to the space.  I also enjoy the suggestion, by title if not in iconography, of multiple portals available to beings of light looking on (or from above) their position on the ceiling. Spectral figures joining hands appear to be projected on the weathered walls, but as a source of projection is not directly visible, they seem to be of the environment, rather than on or in it.
