Curator’s Comments:
The soaring elements in open sky within this piece transcend their natural representation of leaves, and serve a sense of being physically carried by the wind. They also intimate a microcosmic relationship to the open field, without a tree line to anchor their trajectory or scale. I love that the work has a strong sense of atmospheric perspective and depth, while also being viewed as an abstraction. Circular movement implied within the line of small pieces creates an easy compositional flow, alternated by smaller paths of visual rest. While media or dimensions aren’t indicated on the slide, I imagine the work to be on a fairly large scale, considering the complexity of detail in the foreground. The surface also removes the artist hand, offering the viewer serene ungrounded and unencumbered space.
